HRA Mission Statement
For nearly 70 years,
Hampton Roads Academy has served Peninsula families seeking an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory school that fosters intellectual, moral, and creative growth.
We have shaped generations of graduates who exemplify excellence in scholarship, character, and citizenship. HRA Navigators continually find opportunities to learn, lead, and contribute—in college, through their careers, and as members of their local community.
As we plan for the next five years,
we seek to be the school for the Peninsula, a beacon and a pillar, an indispensable institution for our students and our neighbors alike, where all thrive by:
by learning the principles of good leadership—then putting them into direct practice
by pursuing personal passions and honing natural talents—while developing brave new ambitions
that allow students to connect, observe, ask questions, and gain experience today—and build enduring mentorship networks for tomorrow
by engaging local environmental, economic, social, medical, and other challenges—then taking concrete action
by serving and connecting to community—and recognizing how engaging with others benefits all
toward college and career—and a life of purpose
that supports, sustains, and inspires us every day.
